Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party (AP) are currently living in fear in Osun State.

Exclusive sources reveal that the recent spate of violence among supporters of the two parties has caused many, including innocent citizens, to live in a state of trepidation.

Many residents fear that if this is not addressed quickly, it could significantly impact the upcoming governorship election on August 15.

Hardly a day passes without reports of some form of violence.

It was gathered that supporters from both parties tend to express their support only in overt ways.

The two parties continue to blame each other for the violence.

While the ruling Accord Party accuses the main opposition of trying to seize the state by force, the APC has also lamented that the ruling party is attempting to muscle opposition.

The recent attacks have led to the loss of members and allies for both parties.

Although Osun State’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, who officially resumed duty on June 17, 2025, has attempted to intervene, this has not sat well with the ruling Accord Party, which has accused him of bias and has ordered his redeployment.

Exclusive sources report that campaign billboards for both parties were vandalised across the state in May, 2026.

Additionally, the campaign office set up for the APC gubernatorial candidate in Osogbo by the Executive Director of Marine and Operations at the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Engr. Olalekan Badmus was attacked and destroyed by thugs.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State also accused APC supporters of shooting, which caused injuries to various residents.

The governor condemned the act as ‘senseless’ and noted it had created panic in some areas of the state.
