APC chair breaks silence on Ekiti trip amid INEC vest controversy
The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, has denied ever being an election monitor during the governorship election in Ekiti State on Saturday.
Tenebe’s picture, wearing an INEC-accredited vest, was widely circulated on social media on Saturday as one of the election observers in the state.
Many Nigerians condemned Tenebe’s presence in Ekiti as an election observer.
But in a swift reaction, during a live interview, the Edo APC chair dismissed the photo, saying it was an AI-generated photo.
“What you saw on the internet is a creation of AI,” he said.
Explaining his presence in Ekiti, Tenebe explained that he went to the state for a meeting.
“What brought me to Ekiti, we have a forum for APC chairmen all over the country, and we all agreed that in any stand-alone election. We have to go and give support to our fellow chairman. What you saw on the internet was a creation of AI.”
He said he was never accredited, and he has never been accredited. He maintained that it was AI-generated, adding that those who did it were fond of doing it and would continue to do it.
Tenebe said the first place he saw it was on Dino Melaye’s handle.
